Communities of Practice

Regional networks advancing ocean accounting through peer learning and collaboration

About Communities of Practice

GOAP's Communities of Practice (CoPs) are regional networks that bring together ocean accounting practitioners, policymakers, and technical experts. These collaborative platforms facilitate knowledge exchange, peer learning, and capacity building tailored to regional contexts and priorities.

Each CoP is led by regional experts and institutions who understand the unique challenges and opportunities for ocean accounting in their area. Through regular meetings, workshops, and collaborative projects, CoPs support countries in developing and implementing ocean accounts aligned with the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting (SEEA).

Communities of Practice serve as the foundation of GOAP's global network, enabling practitioners to share experiences, troubleshoot challenges, and co-develop solutions that advance ocean accounting worldwide.

Join a Community

Communities of Practice are open to government officials, researchers, practitioners, and technical experts working on or interested in ocean accounting. Whether you're just beginning to explore ocean accounts or have an established program, CoPs provide valuable opportunities to learn from peers, access technical support, and contribute to the global advancement of ocean accounting.

Each CoP meets regularly through virtual workshops, webinars, and occasional in-person events. Members share case studies, discuss methodological challenges, and collaborate on regional initiatives that strengthen ocean accounting capacity and impact.
